An Unholy Spawn and the Chicken That Had Gone
This was a strange assignment, but I enjoyed the challenge. This poem’s parameters included a random object and location. Students were asked to be as oddly specific as possible. The object and location I drew were a two-headed snake and “the dumpster of a christian chicken themed restaurant”. Naturally, I imagined a snake, seen biblically as an enemy of God, feasting on the remains of the restaurant’s food waste despite its holy taintedness. Again, a strange assignment, but a welcome challenge.
